River’s Way
In 1994 Morrison School began a partnership with River’s Way, a non-profit organization that provides team building activities and adventures for people of all abilities. River’s Way facilitates programs with our students that focus on teamwork, leadership development, risk taking, and social skills through outdoor adventure activities. Middle School and High School students participate in activities that include hiking, rock wall climbing, caving, canoeing, and other challenging physical activities which are used to enhance their physical, personal, and social abilities.
Music
In 2020, Morrison School began a partnership with Junior Appalachian Musicians (JAM), a non-profit organization that provides schools with the tools necessary to provide instruction in traditional regional and bluegrass music. Thanks to JAM and the direction of Mr. Bryan Read, students learn traditional songs related to the region and have the opportunity to choose between instruments such as the ukulele, banjo, guitar, and fiddle.
Art
Every student at Morrison School receives instruction in art once a week. In past years, we have partnered with the William King Museum of Art, and they’ve provided different instructors that exposed students to different styles and methods of art. We now have a dedicated art teacher with a strong educational background that will provide students with instruction in art.
Student Council
The Morrison School Student Council Association (SCA) is a student centered organization that is facilitated by staff members. The purpose of the student council is to give students an opportunity to develop leadership skills by organizing and carrying out school activities and service projects. In addition to planning events that contribute to school spirit and community welfare, the student council is the voice of the student body. They help share student ideas, interests and concerns with the school wide community. Any students that are interested in leadership, organization, event planning or becoming more involved in the school are welcome to apply. A few of the projects that the Morrison School SCA plans and facilitates include: participation in the Bristol City Christmas Parade, prom, Winter Fest, community service projects, and Spirit Week.
Yearbook
The Morrison School Yearbook Club is a student centered organization that produces the Morrison School's annual yearbook. Every year, club members work together to photograph important and fun school events, design a creative layout, and as a result, produce a memorable record of the school year for students and their families. Club members are fully in charge of both the photography and design of the yearbook, which gives them a wonderful opportunity to express their creativity while developing a product that will become a valued keepsake for the entire student body. The Yearbook Club meets on specified dates throughout the school year.
